because not all wedding videos are the same...

It happens quite frequently these days , the phone rings and its another bride looking to check the availability of her date and get a price for the production of her wedding video. Only to be taken aback by the price.

With it being such a big purchase for the couple it is important to explain the in's and out's of what all is included in the wedding video package. Thus why you should book your wedding video with 'Paul Hughes Video'. Pointing out my unique selling points (note I said points and not point. There is more than one!)

My services are by no means the most expensive on the market nor the cheapest. I like to think the product I offer is reasonably priced for the quality of the final version you receive.

There are certain things you should consider when booking your Videographer -

Experience: how long are they trading; are you satisfied that they are reasonably well experienced and competent in undertaking the task of producing a quality wedding video of YOUR wedding day.

Equipment: This might sound daft, but not every videographer is suitably equipped, often only turning up with one camera and no backup. What happens if that camera fails on the day of your wedding? you want to be confident that if that happens the videographer has a backup plan in place for cameras, microphones, lights etc...

Quality of workmanship: This is a big area. Before booking your videographer you should be satisfied in the quality of their work. Taking into account picture quality, steadiness of the shots, quality of sound, use of 'cheesy effects' music and presentation of final piece.

It happened recently that a bride called and said "Paul, we really like your work but we have found another videographer who is willing to film our wedding for £150 cheaper. We would really like you to do it, but can you do anything on the price?"

In other instances in the last 3-4 years, I have received works from unhappy couples whose wedding was filmed by 'Uncle Joe', and asking for re-editing of their wedding DVD because it was not suitably filmed or edited.

The bottom line is that not all wedding videos are the same. If someone is producing 'cut price' wedding films, I would immediately be suspicious of the quality of their workmanship. For a wedding film to be properly produced, a combination of the following needs to be adhered to:

Experience
Equipment
Time

It takes time to do the job right, and time costs money. On average for each wedding film I produce at least 40 hours are spent on it.

I mentioned earlier in this article about my unique selling points. You may want to check your chosen videographer offers the following:

Viewing of sample work
Filming one hour before your ceremony until late in the evening (10.30 is my standard cut off time)
Recording your ceremony using 4 microphones
Artistic shots filmed throughout the day giving a creative wedding film.
Fully insured (£2M in public liability & £75K in professional indemnity)
Filming using the latest High Definition Cameras
Membership of the Institute of Videography(IOV)(an exam must be sat to gain accreditation)
Arbitration (this is offered if needed through the IOV)
Lifetime backup of both the original footage and of the edited DVD you recieve.

I hope this helps you in booking your chosen videographer.
